Turning 50 Years of ERP Knowledge Into the Foundation for Growth
How SalesE helped Tomar Electronics transform a 3-million-line COBOL system into structured documentation, training, and a path to modernization.
A Proven System Ready for Its Next Chapter
Tomar Electronics has been a leading signaling, safety, and industrial technology manufacturer for decades. Central to that success is a custom ERP system built and refined over decades that has reliably powered the company’s operations through sustained growth. With 3 million lines of COBOL, the platform represents a remarkable depth of accumulated business logic and institutional expertise.
As Tomar looked toward its next phase of growth, leadership identified a strategic opportunity to capture and formalize expertise, accelerate training for new team members, and build a clear foundation for modernization.
“Like many manufacturers with more than 50 years of history, TOMAR has built significant institutional knowledge into a custom ERP that has served the business reliably for decades. Rather than wait for that knowledge to become a constraint, we wanted to get ahead of it. SalesE helped us do what we didn’t think was possible: document our platform, create training guides that accelerate onboarding, and establish a clear path to automation—without migrating data, changing code, or disrupting daily operations. We kept the proven engine running while adding a modern nervous system to support TOMAR’s next stage of growth.”
